Merry Christmas!!!
This Christmas has been a little different since we are about to move.
We made some sweet ornaments for my mom's tree this year because we just didn't have the time (or energy) to put up all the real ornaments and I love them so much that next year I want to have a tree with all homemade ornaments!
We set up out tree this year, because it was pre-lit, but left off all the ornaments. We hung our stockings and put up two extra strings of lights around the house for fun.
But since we are moving, we didn't unpack the usual Christmas decor.
Anyways, we had a lovely Christmas with my family that was quiet, relaxing and filled with love, laughter, good food and lots of games.
Our perspective on Christmas has changed a lot over the last couple of years, which you can read more about HERE.
Today, we focused on Christ.
After our Christmas tradition of Brenner cooking us all a big breakfast, we read about the birth of Christ and then exchanged a couple of presents, mostly with the kids.
Brenner and I choose not to give gifts to the kids, with the exception of some coloring books for the trip home to use on the plane. And the obligatory socks and underwear in their stockings. (They got more than enough from other, wonderful family members!) We never exchange gifts with each other, mostly because if there were something that we really needed throughout the year, we would get it and we have been trying to stick to a "no purchase" rule for ourselves concerning just things that we want.
We didn't exchange gifts with my family other than a few fun snacks and practical items in our stockings.
And let me tell you, it took all the stress out of Christmas!!
This has been the most relaxing Christmas for us where the focus was being together and celebrating Christ rather than lots of the other stuff.
I am beyond thankful for this time together with my family before we head West!
