Y'all, Brenner and I don't get out too much. We do lots of things as a family but rarely go on real dates with just the two of us. It has not been easy for many reasons since the girls were born. And getting away for more than a couple hours just doesn't happen either.
We are currently in DC for Christmas and we asked my parents, with the help of my sister and brother in law, to keep the kids so Brenner and I could get away for 24 hours. This has happened only one other time in the last three years, when we had one day away when the girls were about 13 months old.
Needless to say, we were a little excited to have a night to ourselves!
We went to the Kennedy Center and saw Handel's Messiah performed and then spent the night in Georgetown. We got to eat two meals, uninterrupted with real adult conversation and sleep in!
